Description

One of the scientific departments at the Faculty of Education / Qasr Bin Ghashir and was established in the academic year 1999/1998, and the number of students who were registered in that year 68 students, while the number of students in the fall semester 2009 reached 547 students, but currently the number of students reached 250 students, and this reflects the extent of the students' demand for the classroom teacher section, it is the pillar on which education is built its basics in the early years of basic education, which is considered one of the most important Academic stages, which affect the formation and construction of the personality of students, where the department seeks to achieve the following goals:

-          Implement the curricula prescribed for grades one to four, of basic education efficiently.

-          Employing available educational technologies and preparing the necessary ones for teaching and learning situations.

-          Providing learners with attitudes and values (national, environmental, social and others), included in the curricula of this educational stage.

-          Detecting learners with distinct abilities and working to develop these abilities whenever they exist in various fields (physical, artistic and emotional mentality).

-          Identify learners with learning difficulties, and help them either overcome them if possible or direct them to educational paths appropriate to their circumstances.

-          Linking the learner and the educational process with the educational environment and the great homeland.

Objectives

  • Preparing graduates familiar with the basic requirements and concepts in Arabic, English, Islamic education and computer principles to teach students of the first grades of basic education.
  • Providing graduates with principles, foundations and theories related to the psychological, social and educational aspects that help him manage and organize the first grades of basic education effectively.
  •  Know the basic concepts in school health education, physical, musical and artistic education and their role in modifying behavior and building the normal personality of a student.
  • Providing graduates with the necessary competencies in teaching strategies and methods, designing teaching aids and evaluating them, taking into account individual differences and learning difficulties for primary school students.
  •  Enable student teachers to understand some environmental, historical and geographical issues and concepts.
  • Enable graduates to conduct scientific research, manage panel discussions related to the classroom environment, and put what they have learned into future review.

Outcomes

After four years of educational, scientific and cultural preparation for the students enrolled in it, the outputs of this department are directed to work in teaching, in the basic education stage, specifically for grades (first, second, third, fourth).

The importance of the classroom teacher section comes from the importance of the academic stage in which the outputs of the department are directed to work, as the basic education stage is the pillar on which education is built in its three stages, and the first years of the basic education stage are considered one of the most important academic stages, which affect the formation and building of the students' personality and their love for school and science, and its impact is evident in other age stages.

Entry Reuirements

  • The student applying for study must have a certificate of completion of secondary school in both parts (literary and scientific) with a grade of good as a minimum
  • Students take an entrance exam and a personal interview to determine the criteria for admission to the program (written and oral exam).
  • The student must be fit and healthy, sound in speech, and psychologically balanced.
  • Students must abide by the regulations and laws in force within the educational institution by students.
  • The student is allowed to move from department to department, provided that he submits proof that he has previously studied the scientific content and content grades, and the file is referred to the equation procedure for the courses previously studied
  • The student transferring from other universities can be accepted according to the study regulations and exams in force in the department
  • Taking into account the absorptive capacity of the department according to the capacity of the halls to accommodate

Study Plan

The Bachelor in Elementary Education prepares students to qualify for Bachelor in Elementary Education. The student studies several subjects which have been carefully chosen in this major to cover its different aspects.

It comprises 8 Semesters of study, in which the student will study a total of 122 units, which include 20 units of general subjects, and 34 major units, 4 of elective units. In addition to a final project in the student's major.
