he Department of Counseling and Psychotherapy is one of the scientific departments of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Tripoli, which grants a Bachelor of Arts degree, as the department offers a set of materials and multiple courses that are concerned with graduating students specializing in counseling and psychotherapy working in mental and public health institutions, such as mental and mental health hospitals, Psychiatric clinics, and psychological rehabilitation centers, where they provide counseling, diagnosis, and psychological treatment services to all segments of society that need psychological examination, counseling, or treatment, not to mention their work in many sectors of society that need these services such as social institutions, disability and rehabilitation centers, prisons and care homes, psychological and social research centers and psychological counseling bodies. The student who studies in this department undergoes long practical training in a psychotherapeutic institution, exceeding (300) hours of training, in order to obtain a bachelor’s degree in counseling and psychotherapy. The department includes a distinguished group of professors of clinical psychology and mental health, psychological counseling, psychometrics, and psychotherapy, they have long and varied experiences in these fields, and this contributes to the provision of specialized diagnostic, counseling, psychological treatment and rehabilitation services in the health field for various segments of society. The department seeks to provide a set of programs and postgraduate studies in the near future that will raise the level of counseling, psychological treatment and rehabilitation services in the field of disability in all its forms, and increase self-sufficiency. For community members.

Objectives

1. Formation of distinguished scientific cadres to provide psychological and therapeutic consultations.

2. Providing assistance according to technical and ethical standards to all individuals who need it.

3. Preparing specialists with a high level of competence and the ability to solve some of the psychological, behavioral and social problems and ills that the community faces.

4. Providing community institutions with specialists with qualified academic research skills by training them in scientific research techniques that contribute to its development.

5. Raising awareness of the importance of counseling and psychotherapy in the development of society.

Entry Reuirements

 According to the requirements of the college to enroll in the study program, explaining the following:

Study Plan

The Bachelor in Counseling and Psychotherapy prepares students to qualify for Bachelor in Counseling and Psychotherapy. The student studies several subjects which have been carefully chosen in this major to cover its different aspects.

It comprises 8 Semesters of study, in which the student will study a total of 131 units, which include 15 units of general subjects, and 105 major units, 8 of elective units. In addition to a final project in the student's major.

This course aims to understand the general psychological laws of human behavior, its motives, variables, and prediction through practical tests.
