Sociology is defined as a group of studies concerned with social relations and human institutions, and aims to understand how work is conducted and the formation of awareness among individuals, and their impact on the cultural and social structure of society, through analyzing and explaining important matters in the personal lives of individuals, in society, and on the global level. The meeting is based on many societal topics, including: crime, religion, family, state, ethnic divisions, social classes, common beliefs and cultures, social stability, and the changes that occur in societies.
In this regard, the levels on which sociology is built can be classified as follows: At the personal level: Sociology investigates the social causes and consequences of some topics, such as: social problems, various conflicts, criminal behavior, family conflict, deviant behavior, aging, and religious behavior, and on Societal level: Sociology is concerned with some societal issues, such as: crime and law, poverty and wealth, prejudice and discrimination, schools and education, business companies, urban society, and social movements. At the global level: Sociology is concerned with studying some phenomena, such as: population growth and migration, war and peace, and economic development.
The program has a group of distinguished faculty members and researchers with diverse experiences who are keen to transfer knowledge to our male and female students towards a knowledge economy that keeps pace with the strategic goals of the College of Education in particular and of the university in general. The Sociology Program also seeks to develop its educational curricula to keep pace with developments and the latest developments in all fields of social sciences and their teaching methods. It periodically reviews its teaching courses in order to achieve the highest quality standards in this specialty.
In conclusion, we thank and appreciate everyone who contributed to the design and development of this guide, and we welcome everyone who joins this program, whether they are honorable professors or dear students, hoping that they will find what they want in the sociology program to achieve their ambitions and goals.

Graduating qualified scientific cadres in the field of sociology, capable of keeping pace with cultural development and constantly updating curricula by following up on the changes that occur in societies, and providing them with the scientific skills necessary for the requirements of the labor market.
Objectives
1/ Preparing specialized cadres to work to meet the needs of the local community for teachers in the field of specialization.
2- Providing students with the basics of scientific knowledge of social theory in the field of sociology.
3- Developing scientific research competencies and conducting field studies that address social phenomena, problems and obstacles in the local community.
4- Developing scientific research in the field of sociology by preparing students to continue their graduate studies and scientific research in the field of specialization.
5- Developing students’ abilities to communicate with modern technologies in following transformations and developments in various social, political and cultural fields.
6- Providing them with planning, implementation and evaluation skills in the field of teaching and in studying and addressing obstacles and social issues in Libyan society.
7- Highlighting the originality of Arab social thought and its role in serving human thought by consolidating cultural and scientific ties with local and international educational institutions.
